New Originals on Exotic Hardwood

"ready?"

"waiting to fly"

"nothing better"

"solo mission"

I've pretty much taken the summer off. We had a huge landscaping project in our backyard and it took up ALL of my time and energy. But now that it's complete (I will post pics soon) I wanted to get a little painting in before I leave for vacation. Yay! We're going to Lake Champlain in Vermont. Can't wait to swim everyday and relax. Now I can feel good about doing nothing because I actually got some paintings finished.

I bought the wood for these pieces a few months ago. Walking into Cormack International is heaven for me. There are so many choices of gorgeous wood to choose from. But I fell in love with these.

Hope you are all having a great summer!

New Original on Exotic Hardwood

"wild at heart"

I just couldn't resist going back to Cormack International to look at the beautiful hardwoods there. I found some really interesting blocks in wood that I haven't used before. So, needless to say I had to start painting on them. This first one is titled "wild at heart" and is on African Wenge which is a very hard wood used for floors and musical instruments. It is gorgeous. Very rich and almost black. Love! Hope you enjoy. There will be more...

Happy Mother's Day!

Today at Bent Creek

This was the best Mother's Day ever! Started out with a delicious husband-made breakfast of strawberry/blueberry pancakes and a beautiful card made by my son and then we went for a beautiful hike at Bent Creek. After lunch I decided to take a nap. My son (who stopped napping months ago) came in with his Teddy Bear when I was already asleep and snuggled next to me and took a nap with me. Heaven! Then off to a local kids festival where I saw a lot of my mommy friends and now I'm waiting for my husband to finish cooking dinner - shrimp with goat cheese and tomatoes. Yum! Such a wonderful day with my boys!

I'm really feeling the love today. And I feel so fortunate to have my own amazing family plus an amazing mother who has always been there for me. She taught me what being a good mother is all about. Thank you, Mom...for everything.

And the winner of my Mother's Day Giveaway is...Jenni Allen. Please get in touch with me offline and give me your address and let me know which cards you would like.

Happy Mother's Day!

New Mother's Day Paintings

"darling one"

"kiddo"

"fly to me"

"leaving home"

Four new Mother's Day paintings and prints have just been released. They are available in my Etsy shop.

Time is going so fast and Sam is getting so big. He starts pre-school in the fall and it will be the first time that he'll be away from me for an extended period of time. It's just a few hours a day but it marks the beginning of something wonderful, but also sad for me. That was the inspiration for "leaving home". I can't even imagine what all day kindergarten is going to be like or (gasp) college!

I will be having my Mother's Day giveaway again this year...stay tuned.

My dear friend Cathy Nichols is opening a gallery in Centerport, NY called Firefly Artists. My prints and prints on wood will be sold there. In honor of the grand opening on May 8th, I painted a new painting with a new firefly creature. The painting is titled "nightflying".

If you live in the area please check out the gallery. If you are interested in purchasing the original of "nightflying" please contact the Firefly Gallery. Prints are available here. You can click on the image above to get an enlarged pic.

I'm currently hard at work on some new paintings for Mother's Day (to be released next week) so please stay tuned.
