Goodbye Los Angeles!

Well, the time has come for us to leave Los Angeles. We visited Asheville, NC (see photo above of Sam & Ian) about a month ago and fell in the love with the small hippie town. It seems like the perfect fit for us. Very beautiful and quiet with tons of art and music and organic food. And affordable houses!

And now that we know we're leaving (at the end of August) it can't come soon enough for me. Not only did we have an earthquake yesterday (not a big one but enough to get my heart pounding) we were awakened last night at midnight by a police helicopter surrounding our neighborhood. For those of you who live in LA this has probably happened to you too. For the rest of you let me just say that it is a very disconcerting experience. You feel like you're under attack. Most of the time they just circle for a while and then go away. But last night it was a full hour and at one point we heard "We have you surrounded...come out with your hands up!" Seriously.

So, it's time to move on. I'm going to miss my amazing friends here so much. I can't even think about that right now. But I'm very excited about our new adventure. It will be a great place to raise Sam.

Stay tuned. We're trying to buy a used laptop so that we can blog on our cross-country road trip getting out there.

Happy Father's Day!

We had a great day yesterday. Ian's first father's day! Sam gave Ian a toy guitar so they can jam together. Love, love, love them both!

Radiohead Music Contest - Update

Well, the 3 Golden Ticket winners were announced today and sadly, our video did not get in. Tom Bruno, Jr. and his team (Nick, Chris, Andrew & Krystal) did such an amazing job making my creatures come to life. Thank you all SO much. I know it was a lot of work and I really appreciate it. I just love what you did.

And thanks so much to all of you out there who viewed and rated the first draft of the video. You probably haven't seen the 2nd version where my painting "lura" (above) was brought to life. Click here to see the 2nd version of the video that was submitted. And click here for just the "lura" portion of it. I think it's amazing.

Thanks again!

New Drawings on Etsy

I've just finished 11 new drawings and posted them on Etsy. I love doing these. The process is much easier than a painting and the pen is much easier to control than the brush. I can really get those super tiny details.

Interview on Cookie Magazine Online

I was interviewed for Cookie Magazine Online about my home and son. Click here to read the interview and to see pics of my home and family. I was pretty intimidated at first especially when I saw the other homes featured. Yikes! Take a look at the home in Bali! But Joanna, who interviewed me, was lovely and made me feel worthy. Thank you, Joanna.

Radiohead Music Video Contest

A few weeks ago I was contacted by Tom Bruno, Jr., an animator, asking me if he could use some of my images for a Radiohead video contest. As soon as I saw what he had created I immediately said yes. He did an amazing job making my creatures come to life. He is entering the video in a contest on Aniboom and the winner will be chosen by Radiohead and will receive $10,000 to complete the video. If we win my creatures will really come to life. Click here to view the video and to rate it and add a comment. Voting begins on June 9th so please go to Aniboom and vote for our video. So exciting!

"tula" for Tula

At the Hive show on Saturday night I had the pleasure of meeting Tula who writes the design blog WHORANGE. If you haven't seen her blog yet you should definitely check it out. It's obvious that she takes the time to find special design finds. I was blown away by her picks.

AND...she's super nice too. I have a piece called "tula" and well, it had her name written all over it. Her nice boyfriend bought it for her at the show.

Click here to see the nice mention of the show and my work on her blog.

Thanks, Tula!
