My Prints at Lark & Key and Alena Hennessy

Alena's painting "little gathering"

My prints are now being sold at Lark & Key in Charlotte, NC. This looks like an amazing gallery and boutique. We plan on visiting Charlotte soon to check it out.

Last week I had coffee with Alena Hennessy who also lives in Asheville. Check out her work if you don't know about her. It's amazing! We had a great time and, as I always do when I meet other artists, walked away feeling inspired. Now if only I could keep that feeling for more than just that day! Alena is having a show at Lark & Key starting June 3rd. If you live in the area you should definitely check it out.

Limited Edition Prints at The Shiny Squirrel

"I miss you"

The Shiny Squirrel is now carrying two of my limited edition prints. These very limited editions of 3 were created exclusively for this site. You should check out the site if you aren't familiar with it. She carries really great work. Above are the two prints that are offered. Click here to view my work at The Shiny Squirrel.

Having a relaxing (which means I'm feeling guilty about not working) weekend with my husband and son. We're going to an art opening this evening as soon as it opens at 5:00. That's how it is these days. Gotta get in our social engagements before the dinner/bath/stories/bed routine.

Hope you're having a lovely weekend.

Welcome, Maya!

"welcome maya"

Our good friends Pete and Marsha recently had an adorable baby girl named Maya. And I painted this painting for them as a baby welcome present. We went to their house on Mother's Day and had a wonderful time.

Painting this one got me back into painting after the mad rush to complete the Mother's Day paintings and drawings. The ideas are flowing and I'm ready to paint again. Had to take a short break for a little while. So...stay tuned. More new paintings to come.

Happy Wednesday!

Happy Mother's Day!!

My amazing mom & son. Love, love, love them both.

Wow! I am blown away by all of the amazing comments on my Mother's Day Giveaway post. Pretty much every comment made me a little misty-eyed. Thank you so much to all of you who took the time to comment. It was much appreciated and I loved reading them.

And now (drum roll please) the winner of the giveaway (randomly chosen by my mom) is Veronica.

My mom left today and I miss her so much already. We had a wonderful time except for Friday morning when my son Sam fell and cut his lip. At the advice of our doctor we took him to the ER because the cut was on both his face and his lip. Apparently it's a tricky area because it scars easily. Anyway, after much drama (Sam had a fit anytime anyone got near him) they told us that a stitch wouldn't make any difference and there might be a tiny scar but probably not. The whole experience really got to me but I know this is the first of many with my very active little boy. Ugh!

And now after all of the family visits I have to get back to work. We have 2 Mother's Day events to go to so maybe Monday I'll think about work. It is Mother's Day after all, right?

Happy Mother's Day to all you wonderful mother's out there!

Mother's Day Giveaway

my mom, Sam & me

It's 4:00 in the afternoon on Sunday and I just woke up from this amazing and intense dream. Sam and Ian are still napping. A rare family nap! So great. The windows are open and it's raining outside. A perfect napping day. Anyway, back to my dream. I dreamed that Ian, Sam and I won a trip to go around the world in one day. We must have been on the Concord because how else would that be possible, right? But I guess I shouldn't get into the logistics. It was so great though because I remember everything in the dream. At one point we were swimming in Australia and the water was a deep wine color and the waves were flat slabs that kind of looked like Jello. And, I remember that my mom was there too. It was such a wonderful feeling to float in that thick water. And Sam could magically swim on his own even though he isn't even two yet! And part of the dream was me waking up and asking my husband if it really did happen because it was too amazing to be true. And he said "Yes, honey, it actually happened." Imagine my disappointment when I actually did wake up.

So, it got me thinking that in my perfect dream where my family was swimming in these exotic waters that my mom was there too and it inspired me to do my first giveaway. Because I am so lucky to have such an amazing mom and such an amazing son. So...I'm really feeling Mother's Day this year.

The giveaway will be 2 of my Mother's Day prints seen in this post. The winner will get to choose which 2 prints. And all you have to do is comment on this post and say a little something about your mother or what being a mother means to you. It doesn't have to be an essay. I just thought it would be nice to read the comments. The winner will be chosen at random by my mom who is visiting this week. I will announce the winner on, of course, Mother's Day.

Happy Mother's Week!
